This web site is a collection of my favourite pubs in Manchester

It provides details of these drinking establishments and maps to aid finding them
The links page provides access to a range of beer related websites such as CAMRA, local breweries etc.

When I first started drinking in Manchester in 1979, there were around 120 pubs serving real ale in a one mile radius of St. Peters Square representing 14 different breweries.
Now, in 2005 there is about only 100 pubs in the same area, but somewhere between 40 and 50 breweries beers are available at any one time. The other main change is that most of these breweries have a range of real ales on offer (upto 11 in the case of Robinsons) whereas back in the 70s, they usually only brewed one. For the real ale drinker the last 20 years has seen a dramatic increase in the range of real ale available.
