Location       Shambles Square

Sinclairs has now been in three locations in Manchester since it was first built around 1720. It was originally in the Shambles (an old word meaning butchers market) where there has been a pub or inn dating back to the 14th Century, and was nearly demolished as part of the Arndale re-development in the 1970s, but was saved, raised 15 feet and relocated into the new Shambles Square where it re-opened in 1981. The pub was saved the worst of the effects of the 1996 bomb by the modern buildings which hemmed it in and was re-locted 300m nearer to the Cathedral as part of the post-bomb regeneration. This is mostly an 18th century building and has an extensive wood panelled interior. There are several cosy rooms both downstairs and upstairs.
